About Us
What We Believe
At Sprout, we believe every child is doing the best they can with the nervous system, developmental skills, and life experiences available to them in this moment. We believe intervention should be intentional and based on understanding. We believe in regulation and connection before expectations. We believe relationships create the conditions for growth, and meaningful therapy extends far beyond the therapy room. These beliefs shape every interaction we have with children and families.
A Holistic Approach
At Sprout, we do not see your child as a collection of skills or behaviors, but rather as a whole person with their own nervous system, personality, experiences, strengths, and unique way of engaging with the world.
We also believe that parents deserve more than strategies. You deserve skilled support in understanding your child in ways that feel more effective, attuned, and connected.
A Nervous System Lens
At the heart of our work is the belief that children are doing the best they can with the nervous system and skills available to them in that moment. One of the things we have learned through years of practice is that children often show us what they need when we take the time to observe and connect with them.
A child’s behavior, emotions, attention, movement, and participation are all forms of communication. Rather than asking, “How do we change this?” we start by asking: “What is this child experiencing and what do they need in order to feel safe, connected, and available?”
From that place, they are then better able to learn, connect, adapt and participate.
Relationship-Based Care
Children learn and grow in the context of their relationships. A trusting relationship with their therapist is the foundation that allows a child to show up more fully as themselves, take risks and be open to new experiences or ideas.
Our therapists take the time to understand your child and attune to them, so we can respond in ways that support co-regulation and growth.
At Sprout, we take this relationship seriously and make it a priority.
Play is the Pathway to Growth
Some parents initially tell us that therapy looks like we are “just playing.”
That is by design.
Play is how children learn, practice new skills, solve problems, regulate their emotions, build relationships, and make sense of their experiences. It is one of the most powerful tools that we have to help children grow.
We intentionally use play as the vehicle for lasting neurological and developmental growth. Within play, our therapists are continuously observing, adapting, and thoughtfully adjusting the environment and level of challenge to create opportunities for success. To your child, it feels joyful. To us, every moment has purpose.
Family Centered Care
Parents, you know your child better than anyone and you are an essential part of this process. We are here to partner with you to help you understand your child’s unique sensory-motor profile, recognize what they are communicating, and feel more confident supporting them in everyday moments.
Although your child is the focus of therapy, we know that the most meaningful changes happen within the context of your whole family and can permeate the entire family dynamic — in the morning routine, around the dinner table, during play with siblings, at school, and in the moments when life feels both joyful and challenging.
Our hope is that every family gains more than just new skills. When the time comes for your child to graduate from OT, we hope you leave with a deeper understanding of your child, greater confidence in your ability to support them, and a renewed sense of connection and hope.
Neuro-Affirming & Developmentally Respectful
Our goal is not to change who your child is. Our goal is to help your child better understand themselves, feel more capable, and develop the tools they need to participate in their world in ways that are more effective and that feel better.
Profound changes can happen through consistent experiences that honor each child’s developmental pace while gently supporting them toward the next “just right challenge.”
We celebrate children for who they are today, while thoughtfully supporting who they are becoming. And our hope is that every child who comes through our doors feels accepted for who they are and more confident in themselves.
